Frequently Asked Questions

We believe peace of mind shouldn’t come with hidden costs.
Our flexible packages fit every family’s needs — from one restful week to full fourth-trimester support.

Does KCNC accept our insurance ad on?

Absolutely yes!!! We are thrilled that more companies are adding on insurance benefits for all doula services. Having supportive care during the postpartum experience makes a huge difference for families. We have worked with many ad ons including Carrot and can’t wait to work with more as the visibility of this service grows!

Nutrition during the postpartum period is a crucial part of healthy recovery for new parents. Healthy eating and living can often be brushed to the side while parents work to learn more about their infant and how best to prioritize their time. Kansas City Newborn Care Professionals are educated in healthy food choices to ensure your body is healing from the inside out. Our professionals are happy to prepare snacks, make meals or even grocery shop with your needs in mind.

If you are looking for the best infant care in Kansas City then we have got you covered. We focus on a balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, protein, and healthy fats to support the body’s healing process and help replenish nutrient stores depleted during pregnancy and childbirth. Adequate protein intake is essential for tissue repair and milk production, while iron is crucial to prevent postpartum anemia. Calcium and vitamin D support bone health, particularly important if breastfeeding. Hydration is equally vital, especially for milk production and overall recovery. Drinking plenty of water and fluids like herbal teas can help maintain adequate hydration levels. Our professionals are experts at reminding mom to hydrate and fuel up because you have more important things on your mind!

Postpartum nutrition should also prioritize foods that support mood and energy levels. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts can support brain health and alleviate postpartum depression symptoms. Additionally, Kansas City Newborn Care professionals always consider the cultural practices and traditions around postpartum nutrition in each family’s communities, which often emphasize nutrient-dense foods believed to promote healing and lactation. Taking care of yourself first is key to being able to take care of your baby in the long term!

We absolutely work with multiples. Twins and triplets (or more if necessary!) are our bread and butter and all of our Kansas City Newborn Professionals are educated on how to offer the best care for your little ones. We work to help get your babies on the same schedule to ensure that feeding and sleeping times are made easier. Multiples are so much fun and are also twice the amount of work for new parents. You aren’t just getting to know one baby, you have to get to know two completely different personalities and work to help each one thrive in the world. We can help you establish routines and offer some tips and tricks to make those first few months with your little ones so much easier. These and many more are some of the reasons we have become the premier agency for infant care Kansas City can offer!

Our twin and triplet providers possess the perfect mix of patience, organization and love to help your twins and triplets blossom in both their daytime and nighttime sleep. Communication with parents is essential to ensure consistency in caregiving practices and to provide updates on the twins’ and triplets progress and milestones. Kansas City Newborn Professionals will also provide emotional support to both children, fostering their individual personalities while nurturing their bond as siblings. We want your family to thrive during this exciting time!

There are so many different ways that families choose to feed their babies. Bottle feeding, breastfeeding, formula feeding, pumping, a mix of all or exclusive to one, our professionals are educated in every option and can help you decide or support you in the choices that you are making. If your baby is exclusively breastfeeding, we are more than happy to support you in that choice and that includes nighttime feedings as well. We always aim to provide the lactation consultant Kansas City mothers deserve! Our professionals will communicate with you when the baby is awake and bring your newborn straight to you for feeding during your overnight care shift. When your baby is done nursing, we will take your infant back to their room for diaper changing, rocking and gas prevention. Our job is to help the baby get back to sleep so that your job of getting the best night sleep possible can be fulfilled!

Our goals are your goals. If you are wanting your newborn to give you longer stretches of sleep, we can work to make that happen. Sometimes we have clients who want to pump in the middle of the night and give their baby a bottle so that their sleep isn’t interrupted by the back and forth of the night nurse or night nanny coming into their room. We are happy to cater to these needs as well. Washing pump parts and preparing your pumping station is one of our duties as postpartum and newborn care professionals. Whatever you decide, we are right by your side to support you.

We love working with older children! During our daytime care shifts we often work with older siblings to ensure that everyone is receiving the care that they need. You may just want to take a midday nap and your toddler isn’t having it. We encourage our clients to take their babies with them for a snuggle hour while we care for the home and your older children. Our professionals play a mean Guess Who? and our bead necklace game is on point! Although we do not drive with your children in the car due to insurance reasons, we are happy to take a walk to the park to work out some energy and give your home a little peace for recovery.

Maybe you don’t want to bring your newborn with you and you need a little shut eye during your daytime shift? We can take all of the children and encourage activities that work for everyone as well as facilitate bonding for the new siblings. We are also great snack makers and will help make healthy snacks and meals for your children so you can check another thing off the list!

Kansas City Newborn Care Professionals are the most professional and high quality care providers in Kansas City. When you hire a Newborn Care Professional to come to your home, we want you to know that they are vetted, insured and background checked to ensure the highest caliber of care for your little one. We are not an independent nanny looking to work with one family at a time. We are a top notch provider agency who strives to provide the families of Kansas City with the best. We know that inviting someone into your home during the postpartum stage can cause some anxieties and questions. I think you will quickly find that your professional is the postpartum support you always hoped for and your anxieties will be quickly quelled.

Having a Newborn Care Professional in your home is like inviting a postpartum fairy godmother to care for your needs, some of which you didn’t even know you had! We want to show our families what newborn care can look like when a professional team is working together. We aim to reach and exceed every expectation of our clients.

As far as what the Newborn Care Professional needs, for daytime care, absolutely nothing. We don’t want to be an extra burden on your plate but rather a reprieve for your family. For overnight care we do require sleeping arrangements near the baby which can include a comfortable couch or clean bed for us to rest our head between wake ups and feedings. We suggest having us and your baby’s sleep set up as far away from you as possible so that you can get maximum sleep. We don’t want baby grunts to keep you awake! We are so happy to be the night nurse Kansas City parents can trust with their babies. And of course, if you have any further questions or concerns, our owner and Newborn Care planner, Samantha Moore, is happy to discuss them during our phone call!

We do have a small group of clients who are looking for in-hospital care. This may be for a variety of reasons including single parenthood, a traveling partner or other life circumstances that may cause mom to be alone in the hospital. We love working with our clients in the hospital setting and are happy to support you in whatever ways we can. We can meet our clients in the postpartum room directly after birth or come to the hospital later. Whatever you choose, our objectives are the same. We want you to sleep, recover and bond with your new addition and we will work to facilitate that every step of the way.

Absolutely OK! The nature of this work is that of unpredictability. There’s no way to know when babies will come, how they will come or how they will embrace this new world they just entered. You may have an amazing sleeper during the first weeks after birth who rapidly turns into less of a sleeper as the weeks go on. There’s simply no way to know and we understand that! We have many clients who know without a doubt that having the peace of mind of a Newborn Care professional looking after their baby seven nights a week is just what they need. We have other clients who feel good about one or two nights a week during the first few months after birth. So, if you need a part time nanny Kansas City mothers trust, then we are here to help. Kansas City Newborn Care is set up to cater to every need and lifestyle. Our curated packages are based on your personal needs and preferences and if you’re not sure what that is right away, that’s OK too! We are always happy to add on to services as we go.

One thing to be aware of is that we do give priority to our new newborn clients. This is why it’s important to secure your spot in our calendar early so that your professionals are locked in and you know what to expect! As the year moves along we cannot always guarantee the same professional will be assigned to you and as we shift into new contracts you may see some new faces or have some dates that we are unavailable. We will always do our best to support our clients and cater to each individual’s needs.
